momstown Whitby-Ajax was launched in August 2010 and over the past year has had a huge impact on the lives of over 330 local moms of young children in Ajax, Whitby and surrounding areas.  The time is right for a new entrepreneurial minded mom to step in and take the community to new and exciting places!  The sky is the limit! The dual goal of each momstown chapter is to connect neighbourhood moms both online and in-person with over 25 local, in-person events monthly (to help moms get off the computer and out of the house!).  Initially launched in 2007 in Burlington, Ontario, with a focus to create a better moms group, momstown was a success out of the gate as it met a relevant need in a unique and modern fashion. Oshawa Rotary Ribfest

Yesterday momstown Whitby-Ajax took a family trip to the Oshawa Rotary Ribfest to eat some award-winning ribs and pulled pork sandwiches, enjoy some childrens entertainment from Dan the Music Man, as well as each others company. We also met up with momstown Oshawa-Port Perry while we were there!

The weather was absolutely beautiful for this event, which sent the crowds pouring in to get their hands on some yummy grub!


After chowing down on some yummy food (... and going back for seconds or thirds)... we decided to head are way over into the midway to let the little kiddies ride the rides and play some games! There was something to entertain children of all ages in there (even the tots).


After the kiddies burned off much energy at the midway, we decided to take a walk through the beautiful Lakeview Park before calling it a day!



Following our deliciously, fun day - the wee ones were quite tired... so after our walk we all parted ways so our tuckered out little ones could head home for a much needed nap!

We had so much fun, and can't wait to all get together again soon!

Let's Go to the Zoo!

On Wednesday, momstown Whitby-Ajax ventured out to the Toronto Zoo with momstown Oshawa-Port Perry. For the days leading up to the event, the weather forecast had threatened rain. It had us all quite worried that the event may have to be postponed. Thankfully the weather turned out to be perfect. There's no simpler way to put it. It was partially cloudy, mild with a cool breeze. It helped keep our kiddos all content, and happy!


The children were all quick to make friends as we headed on our trek to see all the animals that the Zoo had. They "gabbed" in their own little lingo, shared snacks and "ooo-ed" and "awed" over the animals together.

The one animal that seemed to be the hit of the day were the Polar Bears. I can't tell you how long we visited the Polar Bear nursery. There was just no pulling the kiddos away.


After visiting the polar bears we made our way around the Zoo to check out a few more exhibits. I was super excited to see one of my favorite animals the Tree Kangaroo!


Did you know that the Tree Kangaroo is known to be the most clumsy when on their feet?!? They get around on ground by hobbling and hopping. Tree Kangaroos are able to travel with agility and great lengths amongst the trees.

After visiting all the animals we headed over to the Kids Zoo, so that the kids could play and burn off any leftover steam. They had a great day, and we all can't wait to get together again soon!
